    The Allen School area has four parts: the subdivisions surrounding the school itself; the area bounded by Washtenaw, Huron Pkwy., the Huron River, and US-23; University Townhouses off Ellsworth; and condominium communities in a portion of Pittsfield Township. Middle school assignments vary. Children south of Washtenaw go to Pioneer High, and the rest are assigned to Huron.

    Near the school, families live in houses ranging from cozy brick-trimmed frame ranches to 1960’s-era colonials and tri-levels. Buhr Park – with its popular swimming pool, ice rink, and ball fields – and the city’s historic Cobblestone Farm are within walking distance. Children in this neighborhood can choose to go to Tappan or Scarlett for middle school.

    The area north of Washtenaw’s commercial strip has a split personality: unpaved streets and large, wooded lots give the homes on Chalmers and Woodland a country feel, in contrast with the big, closely packed houses of the newer Woodcreek subdivision. The same contrast is visible farther north along the river, where newer tract mansions tower over the smaller, custom-built homes of the postwar Thornoaks sub. This neighborhood belongs to Clague Middle School, except for a few addresses south of a line parallel with Clark Rd. that are in the Scarlett area.

University Townhouses off Ellsworth is a cooperative offering low-cost homes with large interconnected yards. The children there attend Scarlett.

South of I-94 and east of US-23 in Pittsfield Township are the Pines of Cloverland and Hunt Club apartments. South of Michigan Ave. is Hickory Pointe subdivision with its 65 homes, five parks, and swim club. Children from these neighborhoods go on to Scarlett. Source
